Why are the 10 Elements a solution to substantially increase the success of transformational projects?

28 March, 2019

With the 10 Elements we answer questions such as the following:

  • What responsibility do top management and the Human Resources department really have with the people side of change in organizational transformation processes?
  • Why do project management practices, defined by institutions as important as the PMI (Project Management Institute), Prince2, and others, continue to not improve the levels of success of organizational transformation projects?
  • Why is that on many occasions when the business case is defined everything related to the people side of change is not included with the required rigor?
  • Which considerations do the investigators and theorists studying the people side of change during organizational transformations leave out thereby failing to improve their success rate?

The term Element comes from chemistry where the combination of two elements leads to obtaining something as vital as water. Our experience and research have shown that adequately combining the 10 Elements during any organizational transformation process converts them into powerful, effective tools.

We must emphasize that when we refer to transformation processes, we are referring to those that involve a large and significant part of the organization. Our experience is based on the participation that we have had on organizational transformation processes in many sectors (banking, retail, financial, agriculture, industrial, technological y academic, among others) and in various countries, especially in the Americas. Currently, together with a prominent university, we are carrying out research on the 10 Elements to determine the impact each one has during a transformation.

Principal Elements:

  • Governance
  • Committed Leadership (Top Management)
  • Change Vision
  • Change Culture (Understanding)

Basic Elements:

  • Change Management
  • Performance and Incentives
  • Project Team
  • Communication and Awareness
  • Change Management Budget
  • Methodology

Even though there are research approaches similar to the 10 Elements, which we will discuss in the coming months, our proposition includes Elements that have been researched very little and, something even more powerful, how they work together to increase levels of success.

By the end of 2019, we intend for you to have a better understanding of the 10 Elements and of the benefits that can be derived when they are applied on your change processes.

We hope that you will begin to see the effect of implementing the 10 Elements on your transformation processes and that you can share your experiences on this blog thereby enriching our knowledge and practices applied to the 10 Elements.

To this end, we ask that you write us at acarvajal@humangroup.com.co. or leave your comments directly on our blog.
